VirtuCrypt is seeking talented individuals for the position of Network Engineer. This position offers an opportunity for a passionate, motivated individual to work with distributed, enterprise-level information systems and IT networks with a focus on maintaining security, enhancing scalability, and expanding core functionality. This position is based at VirtuCrypt’s Austin, Texas Network Operations Center and will require periodic travel to Futurex’s corporate headquarters in Bulverde, Texas.

This role offers a unique opportunity for experienced individuals to demonstrate proven skills and techniques, grounded in a solid foundation in industry best practices, in an environment involving some of the most sophisticated cryptographic technology in the world. Visibility within the organization is high, and opportunities for rapid advancement exist. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm, but availability to work nontraditional or weekend hours as needed is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in network security or information technology
  • Five years’ experience managing and maintaining distributed, enterprise-level networks, with a focus on network security
  • Broad knowledge of information technology, including best practices and troubleshooting skills
  • Well-developed understanding of both current and emerging attack vectors and security threats
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience deploying, managing, and maintaining technologies including DNS, databases, VOIP telecommunications, virtualization platforms, Microsoft Exchange, web applications, NAS/SAN, middleware, physical security infrastructure, access control, IPsec, and biometrics
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking
  • Comfort with working independently in a data center environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds comfortably

Strongly Preferred

  • CCNP, CCIE, and/or CISSP certification
  • Proven management experience
  • Functional knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or Perl
  • Experience with concepts and technologies used for data encryption
  • Experience with technology from enterprise networking vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer enterprise level internal IT networks, which include, but are not limited to, the following systems, services, and policies: E-mail, intrusion detection, firewall, VPN, network accounts, network monitoring systems, BYOD, user workstations, backup, disaster recovery, storage, virtualization, patch/update management, and external IT vendor relationships
  • Work with project management professionals to develop and deploy large-scale projects for both internal and public-facing applications
  • Analyze existing network infrastructure and policies to identify opportunities to enhance security, reliability, and functionality
  • Provide hardware and software support to end users
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop processes related to network architecture
  • Maintain and manage software and hardware inventory
  • Effectively communicate sophisticated concepts to both technical and non-technical users
  • Other duties as required
